Some items to try are:
  • Split the data file being imported into smaller files
  • Have all other users exit and sign out so that it doesn't have to share processing time
  • Start the import before leaving for the day and let it run overnight performing the change
  • Run the process from the server, which eliminates issues with network traffic
  • If using the default duplicate settings in Configuration (for The Raiser's Edge 7), unmark the Check Alias checkbox in Config > Business Rules
