Try each one of the following until the issue is resolved:

1. Search for BBUpdate.ini file on the workstation.
2. Rename BBUpdate.ini to BBUpdate.[Today's Date].
3. Manually update workstation from the Deploy folder on server.
4. Attach the sample database to the Blackbaud Management Console(Blackbaud Management Console)

NOTE: Be sure all users are logged out of the database before completing step 4.

5. If running SQL Server Standard or Enterprise, verify that the REUSER account has DBOwner access to the RE7 database  (step 3 in this link).
6. Try the login name of Supervisor and the password of admin (or ADMIN in all caps if using version 7.91 or later). User names set up in the live database will not work in the sample database.
