Try each of the following steps in the order listed until the issue is resolved:

  1. If the database information is not showing, missing or incorrect on multiple computers, then open the Blackbaud Management Console (BMC) on your server and confirm that the subject database(s) is/are attached.  If the database(s) is/are not showing in the Blackbaud Management Console, then attach the database(s).   After attaching your database, then if using an operating system with User Account Control (UAC) enabled (i.e., Windows 7, Windows 8, etc.), right-click on the Blackbaud application's shortcut/icon and select Run as administrator
  2. If a database is showing on multiple computers and you no longer need it, then open the Blackbaud Management Console (BMC) on your server and detach the database.  After detaching your database, then if using an operating system with User Account Control (UAC) enabled (i.e., Windows 7, Windows 8, etc.), right-click on the Blackbaud application's shortcut/icon and select Run as administrator
  3. If using an operating system with User Account Control (UAC) enabled (i.e., Windows 7, Windows 8, etc.), then right-click on the Blackbaud application's shortcut/icon and select Run as administrator
  4. Delete the BBUpdate.ini file for your Blackbaud application on the computer where the database is missing.  This file can be found in the directory where the Blackbaud Product was installed.
  • Default installation location for 32-bit operating systems:
    • C:\Program Files\Blackbaud\The Raiser's Edge 7\
    • C:\Program Files\Blackbaud\The Financial Edge\
  • Default installation location for 64-bit operating systems:
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Blackbaud\The Raisers Edge 7\
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Blackbaud\The Finanical Edge\
Once the BBUpdate.ini file is deleted, then if using an operating system with User Account Control (UAC) enabled (i.e., Windows 7, Windows 8, etc.), right-click on the Blackbaud application's shortcut/icon and select Run as administrator
  1. Either grant the Windows account that is logged onto the computer with local administrator rights or set the required NTFS permissions needed in order to use the Blackbaud application.
  2. Verify that the workstation is using the correct deploy folder by viewing the appropriate Windows registry key value and updating it, if necessary:
  • For The Raiser's Edge:
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Blackbaud\Raisers Edge\7.0\InstallSource (64-bit operating systems)
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Blackbaud\Raisers Edge\7.0\Installsource (32-bit operating systems)
  • For The Financial Edge, The Education Edge and Blackbaud Student Information System:
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Blackbaud\The Financial Edge\7.0\InstallSource and AFN64InstallSource (64-bit operating systems)
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Blackbaud\The Financial Edge\7.0\Installsource and AFN64InstallSource (32-bit operating systems)
Note the network path for the deploy folder. This path must be the path to the correct deploy folder. To verify that this is the correct deploy folder, refer to BB120314: How to find the deploy kit or folder

  1. If the sample database is appearing in the database selection screen on a workstation but not attached in the Blackbaud Management Console on your server, then rename the REINI_50 registry key (if The Raiser's Edge) or AFNINI_50 (if The Financial Edge, The Education Edge or Blackbaud Student Information System) in the following registry location:
  • For The Raiser's Edge:
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Blackbaud\ (64-bit operating systems)
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Blackbaud\ (32-bit operating systems)
  • For The Financial Edge, The Education Edge and Blackbaud Student Information System:
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Blackbaud\ (64-bit operating systems)
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Blackbaud\ (32-bit operating systems)
  1.  Repair the Blackbaud application installation by running setup.exe.  (For steps on how to repair the workstation, refer to BB57039 - How to install, update or repair a workstation
