Many files require space in the database and are time-consuming to enter on the Media tab. The file linking function can be a more efficient way to store photos, documents, and other files for records if you're locally-hosted:
  • Data entry time is less per item
  • JPEG or BMP files, used for photos, can be 30KB or so each. Not storing these large files inside the database keeps the overall database size down.
Note: All files added to the media tab in the Hosted Environment must be EMBEDDED rather than linked.  If you do not embed the media file, it will become unusable when it is deleted from the Files Folder or by other users. for more information, see How to add, edit, or delete attachments (media) in a Constituent record for Raiser's Edge or How to add, edit, or delete an object on the Media tab for Financial Edge or Education Edge.
