The business rule 'No longer soft credit the deceased for gifts given by the spouse' is not retroactive on spouse relationships where one spouse was already marked deceased.  It only works when a user actively marks a spouse as deceased while the business rule is in effect .  When a spouse is marked as deceased this business rule will unmark the option to automatically soft credit the deceased spouse.

To globally fix constituents that are already deceased:
  1. Create a relationship query. On the Criteria tab, select:
Individuals, Automatically soft credit this individual for gifts equals yes
    AND Individuals, Deceased equals yes
  2. Globally unmark the Automatically soft credit checkbox
To individually fix constituents that are already deceased:

  1. Ensure that the 'No longer soft credit the deceased for gifts given by the spouse' checkbox is marked. For instructions, refer to BB16844.
  2. Unmark the Deceased checkbox on the constituent record (Bio 1 tab) and click Save
  3. Re-mark the Deceased checkbox and click Save
The business rule 'No longer soft credit the deceased for gifts given by the spouse' is also not retroactive on gifts made in the past, where the deceased spouse was soft credited for gifts made by the living spouse.  When a spouse is marked as deceased this business rule will not change any existing gifts that are already soft credited to the deceased spouse.
