When attempting to log into The Raiser's Edge, users may receive:

Error: No databases have been defined for your system, so The Raiser's Edge cannot be started. Please contact your system administrator for assistance

Try each of the following steps in the order listed until the error is resolved:

If the issue occurs on multiple workstations (more than one installation):

  1. Open the Blackbaud Management Console.
  2. Detach the database.
  3. Re-attach the database again.
If the issue only occurs on a single workstation (other workstations install without issue):
  1. If the error is occurring on a workstation, then manually update/repair the workstation by browsing to the Deploy package on the server and running Setup.exe.
  2. Uninstall and Reinstall the Workstation.
  3. Download Process Monitor from Sysinternals and look for any "access denied" messages. Grant users permissions to the problem keys in the registry.
