Try each of the following steps in order until the error is resolved:
 
  1. Disable the SNMP Service and the SNMP Trap Service:
    1. Click Start, Settings, Control Panel and open Administrative Tools, Services
    2. In the Name column, right-click on SNMP service and select Stop
    3. Also stop the SNMP Trap service
    4. Close the Services window
    5. Re-run the Blackbaud installation
     

    These are operating system errors resulting from running Lodctr.exe Sqlctr.ini. Refer to Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 315083 for more information.

     

     

    • Verify the Server service is started. If it is not present, install it:
       
      • Starting the Server Service:
         
        1. Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services
        2. Right-click on Server and select Start

         
      • Installing the Server service:

        If the Server service has been removed, reinstall 'File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks' to reinstall it:
         
        1. Right-click on My Network Places and select Properties
        2. Right-click on Local Area Connection and select Properties
        3. Click Install
        4. Select Service and click Add
        5. Select Microsoft as the Manufacturer and File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks as the Network Service and click OK
       

       

    • If logged in as a Domain Admin, verify that the actual username (which is a member of the Domain Admin group) has Local Administrator rights to the MSDE folder created during the MSDE installation. The default location is under \Program Files\Blackbaud\[Product Name]\MSDE.

       

       

    • Manually install MSDE after completing the steps above.
       

       

    • If this installation fails, Enable MSI Logging to troubleshoot the issue further
