What is a Statement of Auditing Standards (SAS) 70?
Statement of Auditing Standards (SAS) 70 is a review by an independent certified public accountant of the controls and processes of a primarily service organization (e.g. vendors that provide outsourced IT services) to assure that organization's customers that loss of data and operational failure are mitigated. A SAS 70 Review is an audit by an independent certified public accountant for service organizations that host or process client data. The SAS 70 report is a formal audit report disclosing the details of how hosted data is processed, controlled, and maintained.
