The date merge field is a Word field that can be set to update each time the merge document is opened so that the current date is displayed.

1. Delete the date merge field.
2. Manually type the appropriate date.

OR

1. Delete the date merge field.
2. Select Insert, Date and Time from the Word menu bar.
3. Select the appropriate format.
4. Unmark the Update automatically option.
5. Select OK.
6. The date inserted does not change each time the merge document is opened.
