You must define skill ratings to rate a student's performance on skills. For example, create a standard ratings table containing ratings for Exceptional, Above Average, Satisfactory, Needs Improvement, and Deficient.
If you are planning to base performance calculations on skill ratings, you must rank the skill ratings in each table from lowest to highest.
Before entering skill ratings tables, we recommend you plan the skill ratings tables and table entries you need. Write out each ratings table, the entries for the table, and the short descriptions.

  1. From the Configuration page, click Registrar Setup.
  2. From the list on the left, select Skills.
  3. On the action bar, click New Ratings Table.
  4. In the Table Name field, enter a name for the ratings table (maximum of 30 alphanumeric characters).
  5. To permit table entries in the table to have a short description, mark the Use Short Description of checkbox. In the [ ] characters field, enter a number from 1 to 6 to designate the maximum number of characters to allow in the short description.
Note: Short descriptions appear in Grades, Faculty Access for the Web, Reports, and on report cards and transcripts.
  6. Click OK.
  7. On the main Configuration page, click Tables.
  8. From the list on the left, select the ratings table just created.
  9. Click New Table Entry on the action bar.
  10. Enter short description, if applicable.
Note: To enter a check mark, press SHIFT + \.
  11. Enter the long description (maximum of 60 alphanumeric characters).
  12. Click OK.

You must enter a display name for each skill in a category. Display names appear on report cards. You can add the same display name for each skill in a category, such as Math Skills. Or you can further distinguish skills within a category with different display names, such as Computation and Reasoning.

  1. From the Configuration page, click Tables.
  2. In the box on the left, select the Skills Display Name table.
  3. Click New Table Entry or press ALT + N.
  4. On the New Table Entry screen, enter the description (maximum of 60 alphanumeric characters).
  5. Click OK.
