Possible causes:

  • The database is already attached to the Blackbaud Management Console. The system will not allow for multiple copies of the same database to be attached to the same Blackbaud Management Console.
  • The sample database is being used as the live database.

Try each of the following steps in order until the issue is resolved:
  1. Detach the existing database.
  2. Attach the appropriate copy of the database.
  3. Log into the database currently attached to the Blackbaud Management Console and select Help, About The Raiser's Edge from the menu bar. If the database serial number reads WRE11111, this is the sample database. If it is being used as the live database, request a utility to correct the serial number.
