Note: Before you proceed with the following instructions, back up the database. If your organization integrates multiple Blackbaud products, refer to the Additional Requirements section of the backup solution.

  1. Create a constituent query of the appropriate constituents
  2. Export name and import ID in CSV format. Use the query created in step 1 for the export.
  3. In Excel, the Name column from the export can be removed once the correct Aliases have been entered for the corresponding names.  The required fields for importing the alias are ImportID and AliasName.
  4. Save and close the file once the alias has been entered for the correct constituents.
  5. Click Admin, Import and create a new Constituent Import
  6. For "What do you want to do", select Import new records.
  7. Under "What file do you wish to create", click the ellipses to browse out to location of the saved CSV file.
  8. For the ID Field to use, choose Import ID, and the Format is Delimited.
  9. On the File Layout tab,  Field separator is Comma, and Text qualifier is quotation.  Under "Import field names", check "field names will be on the first line of the import."
  10. Select the Fields tab and make sure that all fields are mapped properly.
  11. On the Summary tab, create an output query of the records imported.
  12. Click Import Now
