Note: Before you proceed with the following instructions, back up the database. If your organization integrates multiple Blackbaud products, refer to the Additional Requirements section of the backup solution.

Try each of the following steps in order until the error is resolved:
 

  1. If any duplicate Organization records exist, Merge the Duplicate Organizations
  2. Identify student records that may have the organization listed in the Other school field in Grades and change or delete the organization.
    • Create a student query.
    • On the Criteria tab, select: Grades, Grades/Skills, Other School equals [Organization to delete].
    • On the Output tab, select: 
      • Student, Bio 1, Full Name 
      • Grades, Grades/Skills Academic Year
      • Grades, Grades/Skills, Other School
    • Select the Results tab.
    • In Grades, click Enter Grades by Student, and open the first student from the query results.
    • Select the appropriate school and academic year from the query results. 
    • Highlight the Other Course and click in the Teacher/School Column.
    • Select another school to be associated with the course or click delete Other Course on the action bar to remove the grades associated with the course.
  3. Identify records that have the Organization record listed as a relationship on the record. These relationships must be deleted from the record of the person (which could be an applicant, student, Individual or faculty/staff) before the organization record can be deleted.
    • Create a Person query.
    • On the Criteria tab select Relationship, Relation Name.
    • Select the name of the organization.
    • On the Output tab select Person, Full Name.
    • Select the Results tab.
    • In Records, open each record and delete the Relationship to the Organization.
       
  4. Ensure the organization is not linked to the school filed on a record. Repeat the following steps for the corresponding fields for Applicant, Student, Individual, and Faculty record types.
    • Create separate queries for applicant, student, faculty and individual record types.
    • On the Criteria tab select the corresponding fields for each query type and select the operator Equals [Organization record to delete]:
    • For Applicant records: Applicant, Bio 2, Other Schools Applied To.
    • For Student records: Education, School Name. 
    • For Faculty/Staff records: Education, School.
    • For Individual records: Individual, School, School Info.
    • Select the appropriate fields on the Output and Sort tabs.
    • Select the Results tab.
    • Open each record and remove the Organization from each school field.
