Try each of the following steps in order until the issue is resolved:

  1. Log in locally as a local administrator and attempt to install the patch.
  2. Make sure your workstation and/or server meet our system requirements.
  3. Temporarily disable any anti-virus software running.
  4. If installing on a User Account Enabled (UAC) operating system, see How to install Blackbaud products on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2 operating systems, and what additional steps are required.
  5. Open Task Manager and End Task on MSIEXEC.exe, FE7#PATCH.EXE, BBPATCH.EXE and IDRIVER.EXE, if running.
  6. Grant the SYSTEM account full control to the Financial Edge folder
  7. Reboot the workstation.
  8. If the computer has FAWEB 7, NetClassroom or WebPortal installed, make sure users our logged out of these applications and restart the IIS Admin Service.
  9. Browse to the temporary C:\Documents and Settings\WindowsAccount\Local Settings\Temp for the Windows Account that is logged on and delete the following if found in this folder:
    • Folder entitled {EDC4971A-4A9F-4ABB-B7B2-E92008467015}
    • Files entitled The Financial Edge.msi or Patchpackage.msi
  10. Update the machine with the location of the installation package
    1. Browse to the ..\The Financial Edge\Deploy\Patch folder.
    2. Right-click on PatchPackage.msp and select Apply.
    3. The Financial Edge InstallShield Wizard will launch. Click Update.
    4. When prompted for a source to use, click Browse
    5. Select The Financial Edge.msi file located in the Deploy folder
    6. Click OK
    7. Allow the installation to complete and click Finish.
  11. Manually update/repair the workstation.
  12. Reinstall the cumulative patch.
  13. If the error continues to occur, uninstall and reinstall the application [The Education Edge\The Financial Edge]
