Try each of the following steps in order until the error is resolved:
  1. Close all open Microsoft Word instances. Then reopen the merge document and remerge.
  2. If the document is on a network drive, ensure that no other users are accessing it.
  3. Recreate the query from scratch using the same filters as the problem query. Use this query instead.
  4. Reboot the workstation
  5. Delete temporary files and empty the recycle bin
  6. Manually Update/Repair the workstation or uninstall and reinstall the workstation
