On a pledge gift record, the status indicates whether you can apply gifts to the pledge to reduce the balance. The Status field is available only if you use Electronic Funds Transfer.

There are four status values you can select:

    • Active: The pledge is active and gift records can be applied to the pledge to reduce the balance

    • Held: The pledge is temporarily inactive and you cannot apply a gift record to the pledge to reduce the balance. You may want to change a pledge's status to Held if the donor calls to tell you he cannot make payments this month but wants to resume donating to your organization next month.

    • Terminated: The pledge gift is closed and you cannot apply a gift record to the pledge to reduce the balance. Typically, a record is terminated if the constituent chooses to stop paying the gift before paying the pledged amount. Once you select Terminated in the Status field and save the pledge gift record, you cannot apply gift records toward the pledge to reduce the balance ever again.

    • Completed: The pledge gift is closed and you cannot apply a gift record to the pledge to reduce the balance. Select Completed when the constituent fulfills the pledge and stops sending payments. Once you select Completed in the Status field and save the pledge gift record, you cannot apply gift records toward the pledge to reduce the balance ever again.
