Change the records globally via import:
  1. Create a participant query.
  2. On the Criteria tab, select Events, Event ID equals [the old event].
  3. Save and close the query.
  4. Create a participant export in comma separated values (CSV) format based on the query created in steps 1 through 3.
  5. On the Output tab, select the fields to be copied to the new participant records. Ensure the following required fields are selected:
    • Key Indicator
    • Constituent, Biographical, Import ID (if any participants are linked to constituent records)
    • Last Name (for individual participants)
    • Org Name (for organization participants)
    • Attributes, [Attribute Name], Description
  6. Click Export Now to create the data file.
  7. Open the CSV file.
  8. If the Participant Import ID (not the Constituent Import ID) was exported, delete the values in this column. New Participant Import IDs may be added, or the column may be left blank to allow the system to automatically generate Import IDs.
  9. Add the Event ID (EventID) column and populate it with the ID for the event to which the participants are being copied.
  10. For each attribute that was exported, insert an Attribute Category (REGAttrCat) column and populate it with the appropriate attribute category.
  11. If the Attribute Import ID was exported for each attribute, delete the values in this column. New Attribute Import IDs may be added, or the column may be left blank to allow the system to automatically generate Import IDs.
  12. Save and close the CSV file.
  13. Import the participants to the new event.

Change the records manually:
  1. Make both events part of the same event group.
  2. Open the participant record from the event on which it exists.
  3. In the left pane titled 'Registered Events', click on the second event from the group to which this participant should be copied.
  4. Though nothing will appear to change, this will open another participant record. Update the event participant record to reflect the correct information for the second event. Something on the second participant record will have to be updated, otherwise the new participant will not be saved.
  5. Save and close the participant.
