Refer
to the appropriate instructions below for installing or upgrading the Raiser's Edge. 

NEW INSTALLATION OF THE RAISER'S EDGE:

  1. Log on the server or standalone computer with a Windows account that has local administrator rights.
  2. Download the latest version to the server or standalone computer.
  3. Extract the installation package to your Desktop or a location that has at least 2 GBs of free space.
  4. Open the Install folder and double-click the Setup.exe file to start the installation wizard and follow the prompts.  
  5. If available, download and install the latest patch for the version installed.
  6. Attach or restore your Raiser's Edge database using the Blackbaud Management Console (includes video)
  7. Log into The Raiser's Edge on the server to upgrade the database.   
NOTE:  If using version 7.94 or lower on User Account Control (UAC) enabled operating systems such as Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, or Windows Server 2012 R2, then right-click on The Raiser's Edge shortcut and select "Run as administrator" the first time you attempt to log in after the installation.  For more information, see Knowledgebase article 47091..
 
  1. Install The Raiser's Edge on any workstation(s) (Network Version Only).  
NOTE:  If using version 7.94 or lower on User Account Control (UAC) enabled operating systems such as Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1, then right-click on The Raiser's Edge shortcut and select "Run as Administrator" the first time you attempt to log in after the installation.  For more information, see Knowledgebase article 47091..

UPDATE/UPGRADE THE RAISER'S EDGE:

  1. Log on the server or standalone computer with a Windows account that has local administrator rights
  2. Download the latest version to the server or standalone computer.
  3. Extract the installation package to your Desktop or a location that has at least 2 GBs of free space.
  4. Open the Install folder and double-click the Setup.exe file to start the installation wizard and follow the prompts.
  5. If available, download and install the latest patch for the version installed.
  6. Log into The Raiser's Edge on the server to update the database.   
NOTE:  If using version 7.94 or lower on User Account Control (UAC) enabled operating systems such as Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, or Windows Server 2012 R2, then right-click on The Raiser's Edge shortcut and select "Run as administrator" the first time you attempt to log in after the update.  For more information, see Knowledgebase article 47091.

  1. Upgrade the Raiser's Edge on any workstation(s) by double-clicking on the Raiser’s Edge icon on the workstation desktop. (Network Version Only).

Post Installation or Upgrade:

  1. Perform the recommended database maintenance after installing an upgrade.
  2. Verify Scheduled Database Maintenance and Scheduled Backups
  3. Update Other Components as Applicable
  4. Create a new database, if you will be adding an additional or do not have an existing database.
