Field Explorer Icon in Crystal Reports:  Crystal Reports Field Explorer Icon

Try the following until the issue is resolved.

Crystal XI:
  • Click on the Field Explorer icon (blue rectangle with dashes) on the top toolbar
  • Go to View > Field Explorer from the top toolbar menu
  • Go to View > Toolbars. Mark the "Reset all toolbars and explorers on next restart" option and click OK. Restart the Crystal Reports program.
  • If you have been using Crystal Reports on a dual monitor workstation and then moved to a single monitor workstation these dialog boxes my be opening up in an area where your single monitor workstation can't see.  Open up Crystal on dual monitor workstation, open up these dialog boxes and re-position them to the main screen.  Then you should see them the next time you use your single monitor workstation.

Crystal 8.5:
  • Click on the Field Explorer icon (blue rectangle with dashes) on the top toolbar
  • Go to Insert > Field Object from the top toolbar menu
  • If you have been using Crystal on a dual monitor workstation and then moved to a single monitor workstation these dialog boxes my be opening up in an area where your single monitor workstation can't see.  Open up Crystal on dual monitor workstation, open up these dialog boxes and re-position them to the main screen.  Then you should see them the next time you use your single monitor workstation.
If the above solutions do not resolve the issue, a re-install of the Crystal Reports application may be necessary to replace any corrupted files.
