To export a specific constituent attribute:

For example, you have an attribute category called Committees and you would like to export it if the constituent has this attribute on their record. This does not filter based on a specific attribute description (for example, Finance); it exports the attribute regardless of the description (for example, for some constituents it may be Finance, for others it is Development, etc.).

  1. Create a Constituent export.
  2. Export Attributes, [name of attribute], Description [Date or Comment].
  3. Select the number of attributes to export.

For example, to export the Committees attribute:

  1. Create a Constituent export
  2. Export Attributes, Committees, Description [Date or Comment].
  3. Select the number of attributes to export. For example, If a constituent would only have one Committees attribute, enter 1. If a constituent may have up to three, enter 3.
  4. Open the exported file and remove any unwanted data.

If you need to export only attributes with a specific description or comment:

For example, you have an attribute category called Committees and you would like to export it only if the constituent has Finance listed for the Committee attribute.

  1. Create a query and filter on the attributes needed.
  2. Create a new Constituent export based on the query.
  3. On the Output tab, select:
Attributes, Committees, Description [Date or Comment]

  4. Select the number of attributes to export. For example, if a constituent would only have one Committees attribute, enter 1. If a constituent may have up to three, enter 3.
  5. Open the exported file and remove any unwanted data.

Note: These steps will be the same to export an attribute from any record type.  Simply select the relevant Export type (Gift, Participant, Relationship, etc).
