How to move the Blackbaud NetCommunity database to a new SQL Server

We have a new SQL server, and need to move NetCommunity from the old server to the new server. What is involved in the process of moving database servers?
  1. Make a backup copy of the Blackbaud NetCommunity database and store it.
  2. Detach the database from the existing SQL Server instance via the SQL Management Studio
  3. Move the database files (MDF, NDF and LDF) to an appropriate location on the new SQL Server
  4. Attach the database to the new SQL Server instance via the SQL Management Studio
  5. On the Web server, modify the connection string in the following Blackbaud NetCommunity configuration files to point to the new SQL instance:
    • Where the installed system is Blackbaud NetCommunity 6.41 and GREATER:
      • X:\Program Files\Blackbaud\bbappfx\vroot\web.config
        • Example: <add name="BBInfinity" connectionString="Server=servername;database=databasename;user id=BBPortalWebUser;password=yourpassword" />
      • X:\Program Files\Blackbaud\PlugInService\web.config
        • Example: <add key="ConnectionString" value="Server=servername;user id=BBPortalWebUser;password=admin;database=databasename" />
      • X:\Program Files\Blackbaud\NetCommunity\web.config.
        • Example: <add key="ConnectionString" value="Server=servername;user id=BBPortalWebUser;password=yourpassword;database=databasename" />\
      • Where the installed system is Blackbaud NetCommunity version 6.15 to 6.35:
        • X:\Program Files\Blackbaud\NetCommunity\web.config
        • X:\Program Files\Blackbaud\PlugInService\web.config
        • X:\Program Files\Blackbaud\BBNCServices\NetCommunityService.exe.config
        • X:\Program Files\Blackbaud\bbappfx\vroot\web.config
****NOTE**** "X" = the drive letter of the drive on the server.  These are examples only.  The configuration of your environment is unique and will require values that are unique to your environment.

After completing the above changes, restart Microsoft IIS on the webserver and check the configuration test page for errors.
