Try each of the following steps in order until the issue is resolved:

If using Word 2003

  1. Change the font:
    1. In Microsoft Word, select Format, Font from the Toolbar.
    2. Select the appropriate font.
    3. Click Default and click Yes when prompted to confirm the change.
    4. Click OK.
    5. Close Microsoft Word.
       
     

    OR

       
      • In Microsoft Word, select Format, Styles and Formatting.
      • Select Clear Formatting.
      • Close Microsoft Word.
          
         
      • Change the document style to Normal:
        1. In Microsoft Word, highlight the text to change.
        2. On the menu bar, select Format, Styles and Formatting.
        3. Under Formatting of selected text, click New Style.
        4. In the Style based on drop-down, select Normal.
        5. Click OK.
           
           
        6. Test the merge on another workstation with the same operating system and version of Microsoft Word. If the problem does not occur there, copy the Normal.dot file from the workstation not experiencing the issue and replace it with the file on the workstation experiencing the issue.
           
        If using Word 2007:
        1. Change the font:
           
          1. In Microsoft Word, go to the Home tab and click the arrow in the bottom-right corner of the ‘Font’ section OR hold down CTRL + D on the keyboard to open the Font window.
          2. Select the appropriate font. Click Default and click Yes when prompted to confirm the change.
          3. Click OK.
          4. Close Microsoft Word.
           

          OR

          1. In Microsoft Word, go to the Home tab.  
          2. In the Styles section across the top, click the More icon to the right (this is the third button listed on the right – it has a line with a down arrow).
          3. Select Clear Formatting.
          4. Close Microsoft Word.
             
             
          • Change the document style to Normal:
            1. In Microsoft Word, highlight the text to change.
            2. Go to the Home tab and click the arrow in the bottom-right corner of the ‘Styles’ section OR hold down ALT + CTRL + SHIFT + S on the keyboard to open the Styles window.
            3. In the bottom-left corner, click the New Style icon.
            4. In the Style based on drop-down, select Normal.
            5. Click OK.

               
            6. Test the merge on another workstation with the same operating system and version of Microsoft Word. If the problem does not occur there, copy the Normal.dot file from the workstation not experiencing the issue and replace it with the file on the workstation experiencing the issue.


              NOTE: If you wish to change the default font used in Mail Merges within the Mail module of The Raiser's Edge, this can be changed in User Options.
