The database update can take a long period of time, varying from a few minutes to several hours depending on the size of the database, speed of the server, and the difference between the old version and the current version. Since update times vary from database to database we recommend running the update after hours, when nobody requires access to the database.

While the database update may show as Not Responding and appears frozen, the program is simply waiting for the SQL server to finish running the database updates.

For the best estimate of the amount of time that will be required to update the data, install a standalone environment on a test server and run the update with a copy of the live data prior to performing the update on your live server.
