If NetClassroom is installed locally at your organization, perform each of the following steps, in order, until the issue is resolved:
- Ensure you are able to log into The Education Edge:
- Log into The Education Edge workstation components on the Web server.
- Exit and sign out of The Education Edge workstation components.
- Ensure NetClassroom is connecting to the correct database:
- Locate the DSN the database is using.
- Note the number following the underscore in the DSN (e.g. AFNINI_2).
- Open the web.config file in Notepad.
- Locate the following string in the Web.config: <add key="AFNINI" value="1" />
- Change the number for "value=" to the number noted in the steps above.
- Save the web.config file.
- Determine the server's IP address and PING the SQL server by IP address and by server name (DNS name) from a command prompt.
- If the PING by IP address fails, contact a qualified IT professional for assistance with TCPIP. See Microsoft solution 325487 for more information.
- If the IP Ping connects but the PING by server name fails or reports a different IP address than the one found on the server, contact a certified IT professional to address the name resolution problem on the DNS server, or, as a temporary fix, add information to the HOSTS file of problem machines.
- If there are any firewalls located on or between the web server and the database server, then be sure that TCP/IP traffic for the SQL Server port is open. To find the port that SQL Server is using, see BB134012.
- Restart the IIS Admin service.
- Reboot the NetClassroom server
- Uninstall and reinstall NetClassroom 7.
