EmailFinder does not verify or change email addresses already on the constituent record. The service only considers the name and address submitted and searches for an email address.  To purchase the separate Email Verification service please contact your Account Executive at solutions@blackbaud.com

If constituents included in the export file currently have an email address on their record, duplicate email addresses may result when you run the update. For example, you may end up with one phone type of Email and another phone type of EmailFinder, both housing the same email address. To prevent duplicate email addresses from being created for your constituents:

  1. Include a query of records that do not have email addresses:
    1. FOR RAISER'S EDGE VERSIONS 7.93 PATCH 11 AND BELOW
      1. Create a constituent query.
        1. On the Criteria tab, select:
Addresses, All (or Preferred) Addresses, Phones, Phone Type equals [the appropriate phone type]
AND Addresses, All (or Preferred) Addresses, Phones, Phone Number does not contain @
AND Addresses, Preferred Address Line 1 not blank
  1. FOR RAISER'S EDGE VERSION 7.94+
    1. Create a constituent query.
      1. On the Criteria tab, select:
                                     Phones, Phone Number does not contain @
                                     AND Addresses, Preferred Address Line 1 not blank
                             
       2. Submit the EmailFinder file.
