Marking the Save Old Address in Constituent Address List checkbox makes a copy of the address that was submitted to be screened by AddressFinder and makes it an Alternate address on the Addresses tab of a constituent record. All updated addresses are CASS Certified.
 

If you mark the Update only addresses with NCOA address changes checkbox on the General tab, this change only occurs for constituents who actually moved. No changes are made to addresses that are exceptions.

 

If you did not mark the Update only addresses with NCOA address changes checkbox on the General tab, even the constituents who did not move will have a copy of the address on the Addresses tab. Therefore, both the addresses that did have NCOA address changes and ones that did not will have the old address saved. All records in the file are updated even if there is not a physical change.

If you chose to submit multiple address types in your export file, you will get multiple Alternate addresses when you mark Save Old Address. For example, if you submitted 3 address types and select to save the old address when updating, the constituent record could now have 6 addresses listed on the Address tab of his record.

 

If running AddressFinder on version 7.85 or higher of Raiser's Edge Address Attributes will stay with an address. When importing, if the submitted address is saved as a previous address then all attributes associated with that address will move with the address. If the option to save old addresses is not chosen then the Address Attributes will be removed with the old address.
