To determine if the SUTA wage limit has been reached perform a manual calculation:

    • In Configuration, Tax tables, select State Taxes from the drop-down.

    • Open the Effective State tax table that pertains to employee(s) in question.

    • Highlight SUTA Employer tax on the left.

    • Multiply the SUTA wage limit by the rate listed. The result equals the limit for SUTA deduction amounts in that year.

    • To confirm how much SUTA has been deducted thus far for an employee, run the Payroll Register:

      1. In Reports, Transaction Reports, create a new Payroll Register report.

      • From the Payment Date drop-down, select 'This Calendar year'

      • On the General tab, mark the 'Include Employer Expenses' checkbox.

      • From the 'Print a report in' drop-down select Summary.

      • Preview/Print the report and compare the SUTA total to the deduction amount limit determined in Step 6.
