Patterns define the scheduling template for classes of a course within the cycle. You can create a rotating pattern manually or use the Pattern Wizard to automatically generate blocks for the pattern.   In a rotating pattern, a class meets in a different period each day of the cycle. The class "rotates" from one period to the next in consecutive order. For example, if a class meets in period 1 on Monday, it meets in period 2 on Tuesday, and then period 3 on Wednesday, etc.

    • Manually create the pattern
      1. In Configuration, Registrar Setup, Patterns, click New Pattern on the action bar.

      2. On the New Pattern screen, name the pattern, enter a description, and select the timetable.

      3. Mark the Meetings for a block must have the same length in time and Blocks must have the same number of meetings checkboxes.

      4. Click New Block on the action bar.

      5. Name the block (such as A or 1) and, in the grid, select each cycle day for which to define meeting times.

Note: You must define at least one meeting for each block.
        • If, on the timetable selected for the pattern, you marked the Allow class meetings to occur only using periods checkbox, then the Period and Length in Periods columns appear on the New Block screen. Select a period and enter the number of periods that comprise the meeting.

        • If you did not mark the Allow class meetings to occur only using periods checkbox, the Start Time and End Time columns appear on the screen. Enter the start and end time for the meeting.

      6. To save the block and open a new block, click Save and New. To save the block and return to the Pattern screen, click OK.

      7. To review the blocks and meeting times in a grid format, click Grid View on the action bar.
