• For Windows 2000:
    1. Right-click on the folder you wish to modify, select Properties
    2. Select the Sharing tab
    3. Mark the Shared this folder option
    4. Click Permissions
    5. Click Add
    6. Select the user or group for whom you wish to add permissions from Name box and click Add
    7. Click OK
    8. Click OK again to close the Folder Properties window


  • For Windows XP:
    1. Right-click on the folder you wish to modify, select Properties
    2. Select the Sharing tab
    3. Mark the Shared this folder option
    4. Click Permissions
    5. Click Add
    6. Enter the user or group for whom you wish to add permissions in the Enter the object names to select box and click Check Names
    7. If it is not automatically updated, select the appropriate name from the Matching names list and click OK
    8. Click OK
    9. Click OK, and OK again to close the Folder Properties window



  • For Windows 2003:
    1. Log on to the computer as Administrator or as a member of the Administrators group
    2. Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, and click Windows Explorer
    3. Expand My Computer, and click the drive or folder in which to create a new folder
    4. Select File, New, Folder from the menu bar
    5. Type a name for the new folder and press Enter
    6. Right-click on the folder, and click Sharing and Security
    7. Click Share this folder


    Windows automatically uses name as the folder as the share name (if there is not already another share with that name on the computer).
