Note : Before you proceed with the following instructions, back up the database. If your organization integrates multiple Blackbaud products, refer to the Additional Requirements section of the backup article. Note: If importing to correct existing rows that contain current values of Date From and/or Date To, you must include a carat (^) in the import file for the existing data to be removed. Refer to How to import blank values for fields that currently have a value (BB108568) for more information.

  1. Create a constituent query to select the constituent records records to be changed.
  2. Create a constituent code import file. On the Fields tab, select:
    • Constituent Code Import ID
    • Constituent Code
    • Constituent Import ID
    • Date From (if applicable)
    • Date To (if applicable)
    • Open the import file in Microsoft Excel. Sort the spreadsheet by the ImportID column to group the constituent codes by the constituent. For each constituent, re-arrange the constituent codes in the correct order and save the file in CSV format.
    • In The Raiser's Edge, globally delete the constituent code from the records using the query created in step 1. For instructions, refer to section B in How to globally delete constituency codes.
    • In Administration, click Import and select Constituent, Constituent Code. Click New Import
    • On the General tab, mark the Import New records checkbox and browse to and select the file saved in step 4. Leave everything else set to the defaults.
    • On Fields tab, confirm that the Raiser's Edge Fields correspond correctly to the Fields to Import
    • Select the appropriate options on the Summary tab
    • Click Import Now.
