In order to allow workstations to connect to the SQL server used by Blackbaud products, the following ports need to be opened in the firewall:
- Port 1433 for TCP is needed to connect to the SQL database instance. By default, SQL will attempt to use 1433. If that port is unavailable, it will automatically choose another port. If this is the case, that port will need to be opened through the firewall instead. For steps to find the port SQL Server is using, refer to How to find the port being used by SQL Server.
- Port 1434 for UDP is needed to allow the automatic discovery of SQL by the workstations.
Please contact the appropriate software vendor or IT professional for assistance with this process or issue, which is beyond Blackbaud's scope of support.
