For this description, we will consider an example where Jane is Head of Household and Bob is Jane's constituent spouse.

  • Mailing is set to mail to Head of Household:
    • If Jane (but not Bob) is included in a Segment input query that is higher on the segment list, Jane will appear in her own segment and in the output file/mail merge created by the mailing
    • If Bob is included in the higher prioritized segment input query (alone) and Jane is lower in the list, Jane will still appear in the lower prioritized segment output query and the mailing
    • If both constituents are included in the same query, Jane will still be the record included in the output
  • Mailing is set to First Constituent Found:
    • If Jane is included in a segment (alone) lower in the Segmenting input queries list, and Bob is also included in a separate input query (alone) higher in the priority, Bob should be included in his segment output query and Jane should not appear in the output.
    • If Jane is included in a segment (alone) higher in the priority and Bob is in another subsequent input query, Jane's record will be included in her segment's input query and mailing
    • If they are both included in the same segment, the system will pull the constituent whose record was added first to the system.
  • Mailing is set to Mail to Both Constituents separately:
    • If both constituents are included in the mailing because of the mailing's filters AND included in an input query, both records will output.
