What is the Delivery Point Code (DPC) field used for?
DPC or DBPC stands for Delivery Point Code. It is a postnet barcode that contains a ZIP+4 barcode plus two additional digits (10 additional bars) that designate a specific delivery point, like an apartment number. It consists of 62 bars total with beginning and ending frame bars and 5 bars each for the 9 digits of the ZIP+4, the last 2 digits of the primary street address or post office box and a correction digit.
If given a 3 digit DPC number from the vendor, only add the first 2 digits to this field. The first 2 digits of the DPC are the last 2 digits of the street address number.
