The Citrix Universal Printers allows our servers to not only map the default printer configured on the local Windows machine, but also allows the user to preview using the Citrix Universal printer and then choose from any of the locally configured printers.

To use this feature, follow these steps each time you log into an application within the Blackbaud Hosting Services environment from your Windows computer: 

  1. Log in to your application database.
  2. Click Home if not already there.
  3. Select File at the top left then choose Print Setup from the menu.     
    • When printing a word document in Office 2007, this option is not automatically available.  To access Print Setup, click the Office 2007 icon and select Word Options, Customize.  Select All Commands from the Choose Commands From drop-down menu, and add Print Setup to the Quick Access Toolbar.  Click Ok.  Print Setup will then be available in the Quick Access Toolbar.
       
  4. Select Citrix Universal Printer from the Name drop-down menu.
  5. The standard action is to automatically send the job to the default printer specified on the Windows client machine. This behavior can be modified to allow printing to any client-defined print device by clicking the Properties button beside the printer drop down menu of the Print Setup page when the Citrix Universal Printer is selected and then marking the "Preview on client" checkbox. 
  6. Open the print job (e.g. report, mail merge, etc.)
  7. Follow steps 3 through steps 5 again.
  8. Select Print.
  9. Once the preview window appears click on the Printer icon to select the desired printer.
