If the database is installed on your local network:
 
Log out/in to re-establish the connection:
  1. Have affected user exit/sign out of The Raiser's Edge.
  2. If using a User Account Control (UAC) enabled operating system, (Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2, etc.) right-click on the The Raiser's Edge icon and choose the "Run as Administrator" option.
  3. Return to Config > General Ledger to see if options below Establish connection and enable options link are present. If present, then the link has been re-established. 
OR

Ensure that it is The Financial Edge database entered in to the Database name field and not The Raiser's Edge database:
  1. Go to Configuration
  2. Select General Ledger
  3. Ensure the Financial Edge SQL server entered is correct. (double-check spelling)
  4. Place cursor in Database name field and type in correct database name. (double-check spelling)
  5. Click Establish connection and enable options
     
If the above steps do not resolve,turn off the integration of The Financial Edge and The Raiser's Edge then re-establish the connection between RE and FE.  

If the database is hosted by Blackbaud Hosting Services:
  1. Ensure the user account is a member of both the Raiser's Edge and the Financial Edge groups in User Administration for the Blackbaud Hosting Services portal.
  2. Have affected users exit/sign out of The Raiser's Edge and log back in.
  3. Return to Config > General Ledger to see if options below Establish connection and enable options link are present. If present, then the link has been re-established.
  4. If you still receive an error contact Support to have Hosting Administrators establish the connection between RE and General Ledger (NOTE Both RE and FE must be hosted by Blackbaud to establish the integration.)
