Before adding an account, you must define your dimension values.

To add new dimension values:
  1. In the General Ledger, select Maintenance, and select Dimensions.
  2. Select the Id Type from the ID Type drop-down list, and select the Dimension that is new.
  3. Highlight the line with the asterisk and add a new value and any needed attributes, following the pattern of what is already on the screen.
  4. You will normally allow the system to create the associated descriptive accounts when prompted.
  5. Click 'Apply' to save and remain in the window, or click 'Ok' to save and exit the window.

To add a new account:
  1. In The General Ledger, select Accounts, and select New Account.
  2. Select the ID type from the ID Type drop-down list.  The columns displayed in the grid may change to reflect the account structure of the ID type.
  3. Enter the dimensions, Description, and Status.
  4. If necessary, add Attributes, Date Items, Aliases, and Required ID Types.  Double-click in the Attribute field to see the new window where you can select the attribute in the drop-down in the Value and Description column. 
  5. Click 'Apply' to save and remain in the window, or click 'Ok' to save and exit the window.
     
Alternate methods of adding new accounts are:
 
  1. Duplicate them from existing accounts within the Chart of Accounts by accessing General Ledger > Accounts > Chart of Accounts.
  2. Duplicate them from existing accounts using a mask within Account Utilities by accessing General Ledger > Accounts >  Account Utilities.
  3. If dealing with setting up large groups of accounts at once, use Account Builder to accomplish the task by accessing General Ledger > Accounts > Account Builder.
