To search for duplicates in the database for one record (row) at a time in the constituent batch:

NOTE: This searches the batch against the whole database.

  1. Highlight the row containing the Constituent.
  2. Select Constituent > Duplicate Search for [Constituent name] from the menu bar.
  3. Suspected duplicates will appear in a new window. Review the results and click OK to close. If any of the records appear to match the row, then delete the row from the batch.
 

To search for duplicates in the database for the entire batch when Validating the batch:

NOTE: This searches the batch against the whole database.

  1. Select Tools > Validate from the menu bar.
  2. Mark Check for duplicates in the Raiser's Edge.
  3. Click Validate Now.
  4. Results will appear in new window. Optionally to review these results closely, click Print Exception Report.
  5. Click Close to return to the batch.



To search for duplicates in the database for the entire batch when Committing the batch:

NOTE: This searches the batch against the whole database.

  1. Select File > Commit Completed Batch from the menu bar.
  2. Mark Check for duplicates in the Raiser's Edge in the Commit Constituent Batch. Set other options as desired.
  3. Click Commit Now and follow the prompts to complete the process. If a duplicate record is found, the record will note be committed to the database and will be listed as an exception.

 

To check for duplicate records within the batch itself (to ensure that double entry has not been made):
 
NOTE: This searches just among the rows in the open batch. This process does not check for duplicates against the whole database.
  1. Select Constituent > Duplicate search for Batch from the menu bar.
  2. Identified duplicates among the batch rows will appear in a new window. To review an identified row, highlight the result and click Go To to jump to that batch row. Edit or delete the rows as needed.
  3. To return to the batch duplicate results, select Constituent > Duplicate search for Batch from the menu bar. Repeat steps 1 and 2 until no duplicate entries within the batch are found.
