In class pages, the Class Page Assignment Dropbox allows students and faculty to upload and download assignment documents. In a NetCommunity class page, when clicking the for a previously-uploaded document, you may notice that your computer doesn't know what application to use to open the file.
The probable cause for this behavior is that the document uploaded contains a space in the filename. The document's file name is used in building the download link for the document and the space in the filename can cause all characters in the filename that follow the space to be truncated. For example, a file uploaded as "My Assignment.docx" may be downloaded as simply "My" (i.e. without the characters " Assignment.docx").
When a file does not get saved with a valid file extension (such as .doc, .docx, .xls, .pdf, ...), your computer will not know what application to use when double-clicking the file.
1) Rename the file after you download it, making sure to include the correct file extension.
2) Instruct students and faculty to not include spaces in filenames when uploading documents.
