Data export is timing out or generating an error

When attempting to export data from Blackbaud Sphere, the page times out or generates an error screen.
Several factors can contribute to a failed export:
  1. Date range: Try breaking a large date range down into smaller time frames, as smaller export files will use less resources.
  2. Amount of data (number of records, number of fields/columns, etc.): Add filters to help narrow down the amount of records included in the export, or minimize the amount of columns that are viewed.
  3. Server traffic: If possible, try exporting the data early in the morning or late at night, in case heavy server traffic is at play.
