Prerequisites to the installation of SQL 2008 Express:

  1. Review System Requirements:
    • FundWare - Terminal Server Professional
    • FundWare - Standalone Server Professional
    • FundWare - Terminal Server Enterprise
  2. SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005 need to be removed before installing SQL Server 2008.
  3. Verify SQL Server 2008 is installed
  4. If upgrading FundWare, contact Support to request your 7.60 registration number

  1. Download and install Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5SP1
  2. Download and install Windows Installer 4.5
  3. Download and install Windows PowerShell 2.0
  4. Download FW76.EXE from Blackbaud downloads
  5. Unzip FW76.EXE to a local folder
  6. Browse to the SQL 2008 Express with Tools installation directory in the local folder - Default location is ...\install\SQL 2008 - Express\SQL Server 2008 Express\SQL 2008 Express with tools
  7. Double-click SQLEXPRWT_x86_ENU.exe to launch installation
  8. On SQL Server Installation Center screen, click Installation on the left and click New SQL Server stand-alone installation on the right
  9. On the Setup Rules screen, click OK
  10. On the Product Key screen, click Next
  11. On the Setup License Terms screen, mark the “I accept the licensing terms and conditions” checkbox and click Next
  12. On the Setup Support Files, click Install
  13. On the Support Rules screen if no rules fail, click Next
  14. On the Feature Selection screen, click SELECT ALL and change the drive location to the D: drive (If applicable) and click Next
  15. On the Instance Configuration screen, verify the instance is set as NAMED INSTANCE, and change the name of the instance to MSSQLSERVER and click Next
  16. On the Disk Space Requirement screen, verify you have enough disk space for SQL 2008 Express and FundWare and click Next
  17. On the Server Configuration screen, on the Service Accounts tab, for the SQL Server services, select “NT AuthoritySystem” for Account Name and Start-Up type as Automatic. Change the SQL Server Browser service to Automatic and click Next
  18. On the Database Engine Configuration screen, select the ‘Mixed Mode’ radio button, enter an SA password. It should be a complex password. Make a note of the password as well; you need it during the FundWare installation. Click ADD CURRENT USER to add the local administrator to the “Specify SQL Server Administrators” box. Add other users as your company policies deem necessary and click Next
  19. On the Error and Usage reporting screen, click Next
  20. On the Installation Rules, verify all rules have passed. If any failed, generated a warning or were skipped, click the View Detailed Report and fix anything as needed and click Next
  21. On the Ready to Install screen, verify everything is correct. Fix anything that may be wrong and click Next
  22. On the Install Progress screen, click Next
  23. On the Completed screen, click Close 
Post installation tasks:
  1. Install SQL Server 2005 Backward Compatibility for FundWare
  2. Enable TCP/IP and Named Pipes for FundWare
