When importing new constituent records, there are multiple types of attributes that can be imported. For example, there are Constituent Information Attributes, which appear on the Attributes tab of the Constituent record and there are Address Attributes, which appear on the Attributes tab of Constituents' addresses. When importing Constituent Information Attributes, ensure the correct headers are entered so that the program knows they are Constituent Attributes and not Constituent Address Attributes. If the correct headers are not used in the import file and the fields are not mapped correctly on the Fields tab of the import parameters, then the error: 'Record does not exist: Attribute Category' will appear as an exception.
1. Open the import file and correct the headers for the Constituent Attribute columns as follows:
Raiser's Edge field (Header): Constituent Information Attribute, Attribute Import ID (CAttrImpID) Constituent Information Attribute, Category (CAttrCat) Constituent Information Attribute, Description (CAttrDesc) Constituent Information Attribute, Date (CAttrDate) Constituent Information Attribute, Comments (CAttrCom)
2. Save and close the changes to the import file 3. Open the Import parameters in Administration, Import 4. Select the Fields tab and click Update fields 5. Click Validate Now
