When entering scheduling restrictions on the Restrictions 2 tab of a course record, the exception The specified length in terms makes start terms invalid occurs when selecting a length in terms value greater than the start terms. For example, if there are three terms in the year, Trimester 1, Trimester 2, and Trimester 3, the error will occur when selecting Trimester 3 as a start term, with Length in terms: 2, as there is not a second term following Trimester 3 during which classes can meet.
1. Open the course record. 2. Select the Restrictions 2 tab to define scheduling restrictions. 3. Select a Length in Terms value that corresponds with the available terms in the session. If a class should last 1 term in length, select 1, starting in any desired term. If a class should last 2 terms in length, select a start term which has a term following it.
If the error occurs when copying course restrictions: 1. In Configuration, Academic Years, open the academic year you are copying to 2. Open the Session 3. On the Terms tab, verify the terms are correct and in the correct order
