Prerequisites to configuring Windows Server 2008:

  1. Review System Requirements:
    • FundWare - Terminal Server Professional
    • FundWare - Standalone Server Professional
    • FundWare - Terminal Server Enterprise
  2. SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005 need to be removed before installing SQL Server 2008. Please review How to uninstall SQL from the FundWare server before continuing with the steps below.
  3. Verify SQL Server 2008 is installed
  4. If upgrading FundWare, contact FundWare support for your 7.60 registration number.

  1. Disable UAC (User Account Control) on the server:
    1. In Control Panel with Classic View, click User Accounts
    2. In the User Accounts tasks window, click Turn User Account Control on or off
    3. Clear the Use User Account Control (UAC) check box, and then click OK
    4. Click Restart Now to apply the change
  2. Disable Data Execution Prevention:
    1. Right-click on My Computer and select Properties
    2. Select the Advanced System Settings link
    3. Under Performance, click the Settings button
    4. Select the Data Execution Prevention tab
    5. Change the radio button to the top radio button, click OK
    6. Reboot server for the changes to take affect
  3. Install Application Server Mode:
    1. From Start, Admin Tools, Server Manager
    2. Click Roles and then click Add Role
    3. On the Before You Begin screen, click Next
    4. On the Select Server Roles screen mark the check box for Application Server, click Next
    5. If prompted to add features, click Add Required Features
    6. Verify Application Server Foundation and TCP Port Sharing are checked, click Next
    7. On the Confirm Installation Selections screen, click Install
    8. On the Installation Results screen, click Close
  4. Install Terminal Services: If installing FundWare for only 1 or 2 users it is unnecessary to install Terminal Services 
    * In the latest release of Windows 2008 R2, Terminal Services has been renamed Remote Desktop Services (RDS).  Click here for installation instructions for Remote Desktop Services in Windows Server 2008 R2.
    1. From Start, Admin Tools, Server Manager
    2. Click Roles and then click Add Role
    3. Mark the check box for Terminal Services, click Next
    4. On the Introduction to Terminal Services screen, click Next
    5. On the Select Roles Services mark the check box for Terminal Server and TS Licensing, click Next
    6. On the Uninstall and Reinstall Applications for Compatibility screen, click Next
    7. On the Specify Authentication Method for Terminal Server screen select Do not require Network Level Authentication, click Next
    8. On the Specify Licensing Mode screen select your terminal services licensing mode. If you do not know your mode, select Configure Later, click Next
    9. On the Select User Groups Allowed Access To This Terminal Server, add your Active Directory Organizational Unit (ADOU) for your FundWare users group then, click Next
    10. If prompted on the Configure Discovery Scope for TS Licensing, select This Domain, click Next
    11. On the Confirm Installation Selection screen, click Install
    12. On the Confirm Installation Selection screen, click Finish
  5. Configure Terminal Services (Remote Desktop Services):
    1. Click Start, Admin Tools, Terminal Services, Terminal Services Configuration (Start, Admin Tools, Remote Desktop Services, Remote Desktop Session Host Configuration for 2008 R2)
    2. Double-click on the User Logon Mode in the lower 1/2 of the screen
    3. Unchecked the box for Restrict each user to a single session, click OK
    4. Double-click the RDP-TCP icon
    5. Select the Sessions tab, check the two available check boxes
    6. Set “End a Disconnected Session”: 1 Minute
    7. Set “Idle Session Limit”: 3 Hours
    8. Press Apply
    9. Select the Security tab and add the local Power Users group
    10. Add your Active Directory FundWare user group
    11. Check all security check boxes in the bottom screen, click OK
    12. Select the Client Settings tab and unmark all check boxes, click OK
Once Terminal Services are installed, an Install Application on Terminal Server icon will appear in the Control Panel. Double click this icon to install Fundware.
