When checking the results of the query, we may find some accounts that seem like they don't have an email address and question why are they in the results.  For most users the Persona Options setting in a query is set to Any Persona.  This means the query will be looking for constituents that have at least one persona type with an email address.  Some constituents have more than one persona type with information (Personal and Business for example).  Most of the time we view the the primary persona of an account, and it is easy to forget that the account may have an alternate persona with more information.  It is possible the primary persona type of an account does not have an email address, but an alternate persona does.

To only find accounts with an email address on their Primary Persona we can build the query like this:

  1. Click Queries in the menu bar
  2. Click a Query category
  3. Click New Query
  4. Name the query "All Accounts With Email Addresses"
  5. Set the Starting Query to Base/All Constituents
  6. Set the Data Return Type to Accounts
  7. Set the Persona Options field to Primary Persona
  8. Select Accounts from the Browse Fields drop-down menu
  9. Click on Email Address
  10. Mark the checkbox next to "Field Has Any Value"
  11. Click Save and View Queries
