In March 2019 Blackbaud announced the retirement of this tool. For more information on this tool and the retirement check out this Knowledgebase.

The model variables are based on external information that Blackbaud has access to at the Zip+ 4 or Neighborhood level which includes summarized credit information provided by Equifax and demographic information from the US Census Bureau. Additionally, the giving history of your donors at the individual level is also included in the scoring process. The external variables that were used to build the model are combined with your current giving history during the automated scoring process behind the scenes using an algorithm built into RE. The GIving Score is currently not available for Canadian databases.

How someone scores will depend on how well they match the variables in the model as well as if they have made a gift and how much they have given and based on where they live based on their home address and Zip+4 code. Because we use the home address in the scoring process, we can only score constituents who have a complete US address.
