The installer must be able to read and write to the local installation directories and must be able to access the operating system registry.  To ensure that the installer has the necessary access, follow these steps before launching the installer:
  • Ensure that you are logged into the workstation using an Administrator account.  If your operating system is Windows Vista or newer, you can right-click on the installer and select to "Run as administrator".
Non-administrator accounts may not have the permissions necessary to access the required directories and registry keys.
  • Disable any anti-virus and/or malware protection suites that are currently running on the workstation.
These applications are often designed to detect and prevent access to certain directories and/or the operating system registry.  Once the successful installation is complete, they can be re-enabled.
  • Close any other applications that are running on the workstation.
    • Error Example: The process cannot access the file 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Blackbaud\The Raisers Edge 7\Custom\nc_icon_34.png' because it is being used by another process.
Other applications, particularly other Blackbaud applications such as The Raiser's Edge, make active use of files that the installer needs to update or replace.  If these files are in use when the installer runs, then the installer cannot update them.

  • Be sure that installation of .NET 4.5.2 is active on client machine. Running full BBNC.exe installer will prompt to install Microsoft .Net 4.5.2 or you can get .Net file from Microsoft site.
