This typically happens when using the Essentials package with FAF events, or when a custom layout was set up for the previous event by someone within the organization.  The Event ID that is being referenced will need to be changed to point to the newly duplicated event.

Each Sphere event or form has its own unique Event ID associated with it.  The easiest way to see which Event ID is associated with an event or form is to look in the Webinfo Checklist at the very top of the page where Web Address is.  You will see a link with an event ID after it similar to http://www.kintera.org/faf/home/default.asp?ievent=(number).  The number that appears at the end is your Event ID for this specific event or form, and can also be seen within links on your event site.  When an event is copied and the site references specific addresses for the links, sometimes those Event IDs from the previous event copy over, causing any use of those links to still point back to the previous event.  This is the information that needs changed.

Here are some common areas that this issue takes place in, and how to resolve:

-If your buttons appear on the center of the front page of your event, this may be possible to update through the Body section in Front Page Customization.
1. Navigate to Communities > Special Events > Friends Asking Friends > Kintera Thon
2. Hover over the event name and click Website Info
3. Click Front Page Customization
4. Scroll down to the Body section

If these buttons were created within the Body section, you will see something similar to the coding of: <a href="http://www.kintera.org/faf/home/waiver.asp?ievent=1017076"><img src="http://www.kintera.org/images2010/walk/buttons/register.png" /></a>

-If your buttons appear on the left navigation of the front page of your event, this may be possible to update through the Call-out Button section in Website Design:
1. Navigate to Communities > Special Events > Friends Asking Friends > Kintera Thon
2. Hover over the event name and click Website Info
3. Click Website Design
4. Scroll down to the Call-out Button section
5. Update the event ID within the URL text box

The only change you should make on this is to replace the ievent=(number) with the unique Event ID of your new event.  So, for example, if your new event has an ID of 111111, you will replace the 1017076 like above with this number, ensuring you do not remove or modify any other coding around it.  This will enable your button to point to the correct Event ID.

-If your buttons show up in another area on the front page of your event, a Sphere Support analyst can assist you with making those changes, as this coding is more than likely hidden behind the scenes.  Chat with Support and reference this article.
