From time to time most organizations will experience signup fraudulent signup requests.  Some ways to spot potentially fraudulent requests include:
  • A bounced welcome email
  • A signup request in the plug-in for an obviously false name, names with unusual or multiple punctuation marks, or invalid or unusual characters (such as a First Name of $$F.1.2.0$$).
You may wish to incorporate a standard procedure for addressing such issues when they occur.  Some steps to consider taking when such signups are encountered include:

In Blackbaud NetCommunity Users & Groups, search for the User and delete the Account if it is found
  • Delete without processing the Signup Request if it is found in the Blackbaud NetCommunity Plug-in
  • Search for a corresponding constituent record in The Raiser's Edge, and delete it or mark it inactive
