The Blackbaud Merchant Services refunds transactions to the same card number from which the original transaction was made.

If the original card has expired or is no longer in use, the refund should be handled internally at the organization. BBMS issues all refunds to the original account.

Cardholders should contact the card issuer to determine their procedure for refunds applied to cards no longer in use.
  • If a credit card is expired or cancelled but they have been issued a new card by the same financial institution, the refund will reach the new credit card account.
  • If they no longer have an account with the same financial institution, they should contact the issuer directly to verify the details of the pending refund. Often, a physical check will be issued and sent for the refund amount.
