F9 will work in a terminal server environment as long as the system meets some requirements. 

The prerequisites for F9 to work properly on a terminal server are as follows:
  1. Install The Financial Edge software on the terminal server.
  2. In order for F9 to build its list of SQL Server databases available for F9 users, F9 users need READ permission to the following:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Blackbaud\AFNINI\The Financial Edge\General\ (32 bit) OR HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Blackbaud\AFNINI\The Financial Edge\General\ (64 bit)
  3. C:\Program Files\Blackbaud\The Financial Edge\BBUpdate.ini (default location)
    or
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Blackbaud\The Financial Edge\7.0 (32 bit) OR HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Blackbaud\The Financial Edge\7.0 (64 bit)
  4. C:\Program Files\Blackbaud\The Financial Edge\Deploy\Deploy.ini (default location)
  5. The f9config.exe application has to be executed by a user with sysadmin rights to the SQL Server instance.  This has to be done prior to running F9.
  6. All the settings of a F9 user’s session are saved to the registry so F9 users require access to the following keys to save, read last session settings and update info.
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Synex Systems Corporation\F9\5.0 - 3 different subkeys:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Synex Systems Corporation\F9\5.0\F9 Excel (32 bit)
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Synex Systems Corporation\F9\5.0\F9 for FE (32 bit)
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Synex Systems Corporation\F9\5.0\F9 Server (32 bit) OR
         HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wow6432Node\Synex Systems Corporation\F9\5.0 - 3 different subkeys:              HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wow6432Node\Synex Systems Corporation\F9\5.0\F9 Excel (64 bit)                   HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wow6432Node\Synex Systems Corporation\F9\5.0\F9 for FE (64 bit)                  HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wow6432Node\Synex Systems Corporation\F9\5.0\F9 Server (64 bit)
